My mom, Deborah Kosciw, was diagnosed the week of September 9th with pneumonia. After several days at home on prescription antibiotics with no relief, her doctors ordered her to go directly to the hospital. Mom has been in the hospital since September 17th and has learned that she likely contracted Cytomegalovirus (CMV). This virus is usually not an issue for most individuals but can be extremely problematic for folks with compromised immune systems like mom. The assumption is that the CMV has caused the case of viral pneumonia that she is still currently fighting as of September 25. I have created this site as a way to update family and friends about mom’s progress and to solicit support when she finally returns home. We anticipate a long road ahead and hope friends and family can come alongside us as we seek to partner with mom and her medical team for a full recovery.
