Two weeks, 4 days ago I was symptom free and playing tennis.
3 days of pain under my ribs took us to the ER where we found out via CT scan that there was a tumor where the left and right liver bile ducts join in the common bile duct.Liver bile duct cancer is very rare and there is very little information out there. After meeting Dr. Charles Binkley, a highly recommended surgeon at Kaiser SF, on Tuesday, he recommended that we talk to oncologist, Dr. Tilak Sundaresan today. We liked him very much and his medical background made my jaw drop; we asked whether the surgery might have better odds if I had a course of chemo first, but we're fairly certain that the recommended path will be surgery first. We don't know when it will be but probably next week. We will update as we learn more.We are so grateful to our wonderful friends and family who have rallied round to help us keep our thoughts and expectations positive. I appreciate you all so much and feel your love, hugs and support.
