07/23/2015 So, I am back updating you on my breast cancer journey.
I was cancer free for 3+ years. During a routine 6 month check up I found on June 2, 2015 that my cancer had returned with high numbers. The treatment plan has been made clear after 6 weeks of discovery and diagnosis. I have stage IV metastatic breast cancer that is throughout my bones. It is concentrated in my spine, hips, pelvis, ribs, sternum and skull. The prognosis is -" treatable not curable" I will always battle this disease as long as I live. The goal is remission over and over again and to have quality of life.
It was my third year of routine mammograms... When the news came... "we would like an ultrasound, and more views of a suspicious area." Two weeks later, following a biopsy, (8/31/11), We were introduced to the world of Breast Cancer. My name is Debbi Walker. I am a 42 year old mother of two wonderful children, Maddi and Steven and a wife of 20 years to my soul mate, Dennis. I am a very blessed person - I have so many friends, strong supportive family, and a Big faith that my God will carry me through this journey and celebrate my victory over cancer. I have always been a health conscious person- made descent food choices and have enjoyed a healthy amount of exercise. In my mom years I have really come to enjoy running for exercise and quite time. The past 3 weeks of diagnostic testing and finding out so much information regarding my treatment plan has been emotional.
