Dear Family and Friends,

On, Thursday the 10th of August, Debbie had a CT scan.  It was her second in a month.  She had one three weeks earlier that revealed a small tumor, the Physicians initially thought it was a Meningioma (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/meningioma/symptoms-causes/syc-20355643).   This type of tumor is generally benign and can be removed with a high probability of success.  During the initial CT Scan Debbie asked Dr. McMichael for a few weeks to try to treat the growth with natural processes; diet, nutrients and other alternative healing methods.  Dr. McMichael agreed to wait for a few weeks before starting more aggressive treatment.

A second scan was done after the three-week period and unfortunately the tumor had grown substantially and began to migrate into the soft tissue of her brain.  This was a very serious change.  A benign Meningioma doesn’t grow rapidly, nor does it migrate.  Whatever tumor is now growing needs aggressive treatment before it causes brain issues, including difficulty with speech, memory loss, and potential paralysis.

Dr. McMichael spoke to an excellent Neurosurgeon in Minneapolis who worked with her to decide the best course of action given the change in the scan, as well as Debbie’s increased painful symptoms.  They determined the growth needed to be removed ASAP to do a biopsy to decide the proper course of action.

Debbie will be going into surgery next Thursday, August 16th at 7:30 in the morning.  She will be in the hospital for three days and then the physician will do research on the tumor to decide how to proceed.  The surgery is going to take 6 to 7 hours.  This is not an easy surgery and will take up to 6 weeks or longer to heal.

Once we know more about the outcome, we will update the journal.  Please wait for Debbie and/or Peter to reach out as they are processing this challenging time.  We can help best by sending positive energy and prayers until we know more.  Please use the Caring Bridge site to send messages to Debbie and her family.  They can then read and respond when it is best for them.

Please use the prayer at the end of the letter as you send love, light and healing energy.  I will continue to send updates through the journal on Caring Bridge.

Below is the “Prayer of Protection”.  Please say it for Debbie, when put her in your prayers.

Thank you for love, healing thoughts and prayers.

Sending love and light to you all,

Lenni (Garin) Debbie’s sister
