Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
As many of you know, in late January/early February, my Mom went to the doctor after experiencing flu like symptoms. Due to an elevated white count, she was sent for a CT as a precaution. The CT revealed nodes on her lungs, liver, and pancreas. She was sent for two biopsies the following week. On February 16th, after the pancreatic biopsy, we received the news that she has Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer that has spread to her lungs and liver. The cancer is inoperable, which is often the case with Pancreatic Cancer. Surprising news? Yes. Giving up? HELL NO!
For those who know Debbie well, you know she's a funny, fierce, empathetic, take no BS fighter. She's ready to tackle this beast with the love and support of family and friends and she's been blessed with the best. She will get a port and start chemo on Wednesday, March 8th. She will have chemo three weeks in a row, one week off, for two months and will have a scan to see where she's at. She is also exploring other holistic options to help manage the pain and possibly shrink the tumors. My mom has a positive attitude and besides being fatigued and having some pain, she looks and feels great!
It can be difficult to be keep everyone updated in as timely a fashion as we would like so will use caringbridge to post updates, please feel free to check back. If any of us, including my mom, aren't replying right away via text/email/phone, please don't be offended, we're all doing our best (and the lady needs her rest). Thank you for your love, support, prayers, and positivity, KEEP IT COMING!
