Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Debbie was diagnosed with high risk multiple myeloma in November 2017.  She underwent chemotherapy in Mankato from December through June. We are at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester where she will be undergoing an autologous stem cell transplant.  The first four days will be tests to make sure she is ready for the transplant. This is followed by four days of priming an one to four days of cell collection.  After  stem cells are collected, Debbie will receive a high dose of chemo to kill all of her bone marrow. Her stem cells will be reintroduced the following day.  It will take a long time for the stem cells to engraft and begin producing blood cells but once they do her blood counts will begin going up. When they return to normal, she will be allowed to leave Rochester and return home.
