In July I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After additional consultations with several specialists, Chris and I made the difficult decision to have a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. The anticipated outcome is to remove all of the cancer and eliminate the need for any radiation or chemotherapy. Hopefully, "once and done" is the goal.
My surgery is scheduled for Monday, August 28th. We are to arrive at the hospital at 6am. After pre-surgical procedures and testing are done, the actual surgery is to start about 8am and is to last about 7-8 hours. Chris will be at the hospital and we've been told he should receive updates frequently during the surgery. Please feel free to check in on this Caringbridge page for updates.
