Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
During a visit to Kate, Rob and grandson William in Philadelphia PA, Deane started feeling ill, with a high fever. They ultimately admitted him to the hospital and determined he has a staph infection and have started treatment.   The infection has centered in his heart, so the doctors will be doing a heart valve replacement in the next week or so.    He had initially planned on having valve repair surgery in November, so this has escalated that plan.    Deane also had a stroke when some of the debris that accumulated around the infection broke lose.   The cognitive region is ok and it appears only the frontal lobe that affects speech is affected.  He is already showing language improvement.

The plan is to treat the infection, have surgery and recovery and then rehab for the stroke.

The  family has recently been fortunate to spent time together in Southern California, Hawaii and Philadelphia.

We will continue to post journal entries through this site.   Please feel free to sign the guestbook and make a comment.
