On Sunday, February 12th Baby Deagan was airlifted from the Brainered hospital to the St.Cloud hospital (www.centracare.com) Earlier in the week he had been diagnosed with influenza A, but wasn't showing a lot of symptoms until later that evening. on Monday at around 6AM he quit responding to the oxygen they had him on, so they switched him to a different type. He still was really struggling and it was tiring him out, so they decided that a ventilator was the way to go. He's currently on the ventilator, he's getting breast milk through a feeding tube, he's being given two different antibiotics because the influenza caused him to get pneumonia just over night. They have him on pain meds and light sedation..he can still hear us because he's been trying to open his eyes when we talk to him. He has a nurse 24/7 keeping an eye on him and a respiratory therapist comes in every half hour to lightly beat on his back and chest to loosen up his mucous..then they suction it out. He's not out of the woods by any means, but his doctor is an awesome dude who is pretty confident that he's going to be just fine.
