For those who don't personally know us, my name's Ashley and I am David's niece. I am also his full time caregiver. Here's our back story....
On the morning of December 30,2021 I took Dave for an upper G.I Scope. NEVER in my wildest dreams did I think I would hear the words come out of the Drs. mouth "I found a LARGE mass and am positive it's cancer". He was immediately admitted to the hospital and was there for 17 days. While there they did a complete workup, CT, & a multitude of labs. Found out that it is Adenocarcinoma in the lower junction of the esophagus and it has NOT metastisized. While he was there he contracted COVID and required 10 day isolation. Before he was released, Drs were able to implant a port for Chemo and an esophageal stent so that he could eat. We brought him home the evening of January 14th and are enjoying spending every moment with him and are eager to start treatment.
