Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Our journey began last fall when Daryl was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had a radical prostatectomy in November 2017.  The post-op report good news was that his surgical margins were clear and there appeared to be no involvement in the nearby lymph nodes that were checked.  The pathology report however indicated an upgrade in the aggressiveness of the cancer.  We celebrated the cancerous prostate being gone!

Theoretically, the PSA (protein made by the prostate) level should be undetectable following surgery since there is no longer a prostate to produce PSA.  However, much to the surprise of his doctor, his first two post-op PSA checks indicated a significant and rising PSA level.  He underwent a CT and bone scan in March to check for metastasis since prostate cancer typically spreads to lymph nodes and/or bones. Thankfully, both scans were negative.  In all likelihood, cancer cells broke away prior to surgery but just haven’t landed/group/nested yet, so a mass was not apparent. Or, perhaps, that was just going to be his new normal.  Better yet, how about if that PSA just disappears!  The latter was our hope!

We went for a PSA recheck on May 7, 2017 and found that our battle continues…  Thus, we created this site because we needed an easier way to keep our friends and family updated and wanted to broaden our circle of prayer warriors.
