Dawn was diagnosed with colon cancer stage 4 on July 16, 2020. The cancer has metastisized to the liver where she has 4 tumors. The chemo has been successful and has shrunk the tumors enough to do surgery at the end of October 2020.  The surgery will consist of resecting both the colon and liver. This site will update her surgery and continued progress. Dawn has made the decision to share her story only with close friends and family at this time. She has undergone chemo every 2 weeks at USC Keck Medical Center. Her chemo days consist of 6 1/2 hours of chemo and continuing chemo with a pump for 2 additional days at home.  The irony of this situation is Tom had the same diagnosis 20 years ago and the same Dr at USC. No idea why this has happened to both of them. They each underwent DNA gene testing and out of 90 genes tested none had any trigger for this or any other disease. Dawn and Tom avoid fast food,  try to eat mostly organic, so no idea why this has occurred. Stress is a big factor for any disease and the last 5 years Dawn has been dealing with a great deal of stress caring for her mother, who passed away on January 30, 2020. Unfortunately Covid delayed her diagnosis as procedures were cancelled. Dawn and her family are grateful for the wonderful care she is receiving at USC Keck and also the support of her company, family and friends during this trying time.  Her doctors feel that she can have a complete cure so please keep her and her family in your prayers.
