First of all I want to thank all of our friends and family for the many prayers for Davids recovery as well as the blanket of love and support from all of you. It truly gets me through my days and especially the nights when there is no sleep to be had. As you are all aware of David had a pretty good size stroke, scattered to several places, but most significantly on his right side affecting his left side mobility and vision. The good news is his language and memory are not affected and he still has some motion and quite a bit of strength on that side, he is NOT paralyzed. He has what they call left side neglect. The brain is extremely complicated and I'm getting a crash course on it, but I'm rather sleep deprived to so my brain is also struggling to understand. His eyes are healthy, so the eye itself is not damaged but his brain is not letting him see the left quadrant of both his eyes, therefore he doesn't think it exists. He can get a lot of these functions back, no one knows how much, it's just waiting and praying for healing. Please don't stop praying, I'm a strong believer in the power of prayer, and the more prayer warriors the better. David is strong, and stubborn, I say that lovingly. He is my best friend and I know he will rise to this challenge. That being said it won't be easy, it will literally be baby steps. We have much to be grateful for and I just want you to know we love you all so much. I will keep you up to date on his progress and fill you in with more details later. We are at MUSC now, probably through Thursday, then will move to inpatient rehab. We ask for no visitors but family until then. Please feel free to share any stories or pictures you'd like of the Dude. I will read them to him and I know it will put a smile on his face! God Bless, Laura
