David has been battling with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis for almost 2 years and he has been on Oxygen as a result of this disease. Over the past few days David was not feeling well. After going into the ER, we found he tested positive for COVID-19. At first he had a mild fever but then he found it more and more difficult to maintain his oxygen levels. After consulting with his doctor, he decided to be admitted to the hospital to get treatment. He is currently at OSU Medical Center in ICU. Upon admittance to the hospital, tests confirmed that he has bilateral COVID pneumonia. He was breathing pretty fast and the doctors felt it best to give his lungs a break so they have sedated and intubated him. His lab work is all stable and they are preparing to treat him with a common antiviral med for COVID and convalescent plasma. He responded well to commands when they decreased his sedation during their daily "wake-up" trials.
The hospital does not allow for any visitors for COVID patients. Because the family has been exposed to COVID, we cannot entertain visitors at this time. We thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Feel free to leave comments for David - a funny story, a prayer, or an encouraging word that he can enjoy when he wakes up! Thank you for your continued support and prayers during this difficult time. As much as I would love to call or text everyone, I am juggling a lot with the hospital staff calls, leaving me with little extra time. In order to keep everyone updated, this site will be the main source of updates.
