Welcome to our CaringBridge site for David. There are many, many friends and family asking for updates and while we would love to get to each of you individually, it's all a bit overwhelming at this point. Please check here regularly for updates as we receive them on David's condition and progress. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

How did we end up in Petoskey, MI? David spend a wonderful week on Mackinac Island with his friend Dr. Mike. On Monday, September 18, Dr. Mike and David were touring the island by carriage. David missed a step and fell, hitting his head. He seemed to be just fine. On Tuesday, as you can see from the photo, he was in his happy place, on the lake, catching fish, and was still just fine. On Wednesday morning he was not responding to text messages from Kim, so she contacted Dr. Mike to check on him. He was found unresponsive in his room. He was airlifted from the island to McLaren Hospital. He was having a slow bleed all that time pooling in his brain. The Neurosurgeons saved his life and we are so thankful! The doctors said to think of this injury as the biggest bruise you could ever have. Most of the blood was removed from this deep bleed. The rest needs to be absorbed but that takes time. Now we are in recovery. It is up to David to do his part resting and healing!
