On July 30th 2017, David went into the ER due to extreme fatigue and a high fever. After ruling out cardiac issues it was found that he had a very low hemoglobin level and low white blood count. He received blood transfusions and was put on antibiotics.
A few days later he was seen by a hemotologist/oncologist and a bone marrow biopsy was ordered.
On August 15th, he was diagnosed with aggressive Myelodsyplastic Syndrome (MDS), a blood cancer. Essentially, he is in bone marrow failure and needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible.
In the mean time, he continues to get blood transfusions almost weekly, and will begin chemotherapy as we pray a match is found.
