Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

David was in a serious bike accident on Sunday September  23, 2017.  He was riding a Citi Bike on the West side without a helmet and was hit by a car.  The injuries he sustained included traumatic brain injuries, a carotid dissection, 4 fractured ribs and a small laceration to his spleen.  The EMTs took him to Bellevue Hospital, the closest Level 1 Trauma Center, where he has been receiving excellent care since.

Although there have been many ups and downs, David is now stable.  He has been in a medically-induced coma since the day of the accident to allow his body time to heal, but beginning today, his medical team will begin weaning him off sedation to begin the waking-up process. He will also be given a tracheotomy so that his endotracheal breathing tube can be removed. This should make it more comfortable for him as he begins to wake up.

My goal will be to update or have someone update this space every few days.  Again, continue to think of us in your prayers and send positive thoughts our way.
