Dear friends, we need your prayer support and encouragement! My brain tumor is currently the size of a golf ball, and needs to be reduced. The surgeons will be approaching the tumor endoscopically through my sinuses. My surgery is scheduled for Monday, December 3rd at 12:00 pm. I should be in Neural Critical care for 3-4 days.
There are two parts to the tumor, an upper and lower section. They are confident they can access the lower part of the tumor and they "believe" they can access the upper section.
If for some reason they are not able to get to the upper section of the tumor and only remove the lower part, the upper section could swell or even hemorrhage. If this happens they will need to perform an emergency craniotomy. Because the upper section is near my optic nerve, if that part of the tumor swells or bleeds, I could experience permanent vision impairment or even total vision loss! In addition, it is also possible that the surgery could nick the nerve that allows me to open and close my right eye.
In all honesty, I'm scared, but trust all will work out for God's glory. My family is holding up well. Emotional and nervous, but well. Having this surgery so close to Christmas brings back memories of last year's emergency.
Please, please pray for Rayma Barnhart and me to have joy in the midst of these trials, a speedy and complete recovery, and for God's will to be done in and through our lives.
