David Baldon

I’m pretty certain that most if not all of y’all know I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma cancer back in February 2018. So you may be wondering why I'm just now starting a CaringBridge site. It's because I'm just now starting treatment for another cancer I was diagnosed with. In Oct 2020 I was diagnosed with Myeloid Sarcoma which is also known as AML or CML. In the end, it’s another blood cancer but this time its Leukemia with a twist. The twist is that at this point, it’s only in my skin, not in my bone marrow. This is quite uncommon so the doctors don’t have a lot of information to go on. This cancer has an external component called nodules. My understanding is that they are areas of cancerous cells. When they first appear you don’t think much about them. I had no idea what they were but thankfully, my dermatologist found them to be suspicious enough to biopsy them which is how I was initially diagnosed. After showing the results to my local oncologist and my oncologist at MDA, Houston, she made an appointment for me with the Leukemia specialist at MDA, and off we went to get a second opinion which verified the original diagnosis. Fast forward to today and the innocent little nodules are now huge and cover approximately 65% of my skin and are getting more and more painful. In an attempt to kill the cancer cells, or those of you who believe in the power of prayer, Melanie and I would really appreciate them.
