On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, I was woken up by a phone call from my Mom, half crying, telling me she was in the ambulance with my Dad and thought that he'd had a stroke earlier that morning.
Anyone that knows Dave, knows what a creature of habit he is; Mom says he always comes up and takes Kalie, Ella and Lexy out between 6:14 and 6:16am EVERY morning, without fail. So, when she woke at 6:48am and the dogs were still in bed with her, she immediately knew something was wrong. She went downstairs and found my Dad on the floor of the bathroom, conscious, but unable to move. She went upstairs, called 911 and Dad was at Mayo within minutes.
We found out he'd suffered what they were calling a "major/significant" stroke on the left side of his brain, which was affecting movement and things on the right side of his body.
As of today, Wednesday, March 1st ~ Dad has shown significant progress and will be moved to the rehab area at St. Marys today. He has a LONG road ahead of him, but Mom, Ryan, Jason, myself and our spouses, will all be here to help along the way.
Thank you to all our friends and family for your prayers, support, cards, phone calls, helping out with my four legged sisters, etc - we all truly appreciate each and every one of you and we'll use this page to keep you updated on Dad's progress.
