Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Dave began his battle with stomach cancer on March 16 of this year. He had started taking a new heart medication that caused a GI bleed. Adenocarcinoma was diagnosed in the stomach and some surrounding tissues and organs.
Dave valiantly sought medical advice and proceeded to treat with 4 radiation sessions to cauterize and shrink the tumor. Next, he attempted chemo... after one session, that took a huge toll on him, he decided to forgo the rest of the chemo treatments. He has fought back bravely and is, as he says, “in pretty good shape for the shape I’m in!”
Dave is in hospice at The Birches at Trillium Woods. He is happy and comfortable and maintaining his wit, albeit from a wheel chair and hospital bed!
He has his computer, iPad and iphone so he is quite connected again and able to be proactive in planning for his future.
Dave welcomes visitors (call or text first 😊 612-669-3265) and he still enjoys phone chats!
Monica is also in The Birches - in the memory care unit on first floor. Her Dementia has progressed quite quickly these past few months. She is fairly happy and a little feisty in her new home! Monica also enjoys short visits ~ She loves to walk and be active as always! We tease her that she has “ants in her pants” because she doesn’t sit still! She loves to go for walks outside or inside their beautiful facility.
We are so thankful for the wonderful care, compassion and individual attention we all are receiving from the staff at Trillium Woods. The beautiful and well equipped facility has everything needed for their care. We are so happy to be part of this community and all that it offers!
Thank you dear friends and family for the prayers, well wishes and visits to Dave and Monica! They have been such wonderful, generous and gracious parents, grandparents, in-laws, aunt and uncle, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and volunteers to so many. We are thankful for all of the support you have shown at their time of need!
As Dave says “Keep the Faith and God Bless”
