.In August of 2016 I was diagnosed with a high white blood cell count during a routine visit with my doctor. Since that time we have had many visits with my doctor at Virginia Oncology Assciates. Long story short, the doctor in Virginia Beach referred me to specialists at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. The Drs. have suggested stem cell transplant now to eliminate the possibility of more difficult treatment if the disease progresses to an acute form. So, here we are at UVA with a central line placed for chemo starting 7-05-17 at 9 a.m. We've moved into our hospital room that we'll call home for the next month. If all goes well, we will move to a local hotel for two months.
