Welcome to Dave's CaringBridge website.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place, and to give you an opportunity to sign up and be of service.  As you know, Dave had an accident this Summer which landed him in the hospital and a skilled nursing facility for quite some time.  Now, he is home, but he is going to need our help to get back on his feet.  We do anticipate that Dave will need more help than what we have on here now, so we will keep this updated as much as possible.  Please sign up for updates and check back often.

At this time, we are in need of someone to come to his home daily in the morning (preferably between 9 and 10 AM) and in the evening (5:30 or 6 - 7 PM).  We are asking that he be assisted with having breakfast/dinner, and making sure he checks his blood sugar and administers his insulin.  Instructions for helping will be in the posts where you can sign up and will be printed on a notebook at the house.  Ideally, we would love to have people sign up for a consistent commitment (i.e. you commit to Monday and Friday evenings) so that Dave has a set schedule, which is helpful when recovering from a brain injury -- but the most important thing is that all time slots are filled, so please do what you can.  

You are welcome to bring Dave a meal when you come, but please keep it to a single serving as we do not want to take over the refrigerator with leftovers.  Whatever you bring does not have to be homemade!  However, we do want to try and have healthy options when possible, particularly given that he is diabetic.  He does not drink coffee or tea, and we are trying to limit his soda intake. (Sorry, Dave!)  If you have any specific questions on dietary restrictions, please just ask.

 We are also hoping to have people take Dave to meetings.  We have someone who is willing to take him to dinner and a meeting on Wednesday nights, and we would love to have others take on a similar commitment.

Dave has been a beloved member of our fellowship for a long time and has helped so many.  It's our turn to give it back.  Thank you for your willingness to support Dave's recovery!
