On Monday, August 22nd, Darren visited a local clinic after feeling abnormally tired and noticing large, painful bruises on his body. The clinic's lead physician ran blood tests and sent him to the hospital immediately. Blood tests found his white blood cell count 18x above normal levels, as well as a low blood platelet count. At the hospital Darren was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), and by Tuesday night, doctors began an intense 7-10 day, 24/7 regimen of chemotherapy.
