As most of you know, Dad has been dealing with blood issues for many years now. He has been under the care of an awesome doctor in Madison since 2009. He has had a number of bone marrow tests and in December they discovered he has a condition called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). This is a type of cancer that affects the blood forming cells in the bone marrow. He had a bone marrow test in April which was negative for MDS. The treatment he will receive is 7 days of chemo each month and will continue indefinitely. In 5 months he will have another bone marrow test to see if the chemo is working.
