Tom and Carole retired to Florida and made the trip down early due to Hurricane Irma. After the move Tom started not feeling well. He was having trouble breathing so after seeking treatment and many tests it was discovered he has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was rapidly admitted to the hospital to begin chemotherapy and fight against the disease. After intense chemotherapy Tom's disease did not respond to the treatments.
He is still in the hospital receiving additional treatments to help control the symptoms of the disease. Carole and Tom's team of doctors are working very hard to get him home.
