Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Darlene Carol “Greenwood” Klemek. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
On Jan. 18th, barely a month after Darlene retired from a job she loved preparing meals for the Meals on Wheels Program at the Hilltop Regional Kitchen, Eagle Bend, for almost 15 years, Darlene was rushed to Tri-County Hospital emergency room by her husband Lawrence.
Having experienced bouts of imbalance and difficulty walking, Darlene knew something was wrong and so asked Lawrence to take her to the ER.
After a series of tests, doctors discovered she had lung cancer and that the cancer had spread to her brain and determined and affirmed later at CentraCare in St. Cloud as stage four.
Prognosis is not good.. Oncologists have estimated that Darlene has two to three months to live, maybe longer depending on the type of treatment.
Despite this tragic news, Darlene has faced it with courage, resolve, and humor. A woman of uncommon strength and love of family, she also struggles with the loss of her eyesight, for macular degeneration has taken her vision away.
We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  If you have a little story of Darlene that you’d like to share, please do. We will read everything you write aloud to her.
And please view our photo gallery where we have posted many photographs of Darlene and her family. We’ll be sure to add more in the coming weeks.
Thank you very much for visiting.
Take care,
Blane Klemek
