Hello Family and Friends,
I hope to keep you updated on news of Darius. He contracted the COVID-19 virus while on tour in the UK and has developed pneumonia. He was admitted to Conquest Hospital in Hastings, UK last Thursday, March 19 and has now been placed in their ICU under sedation and on a ventilator. As the head nurse put it, the ventilator serves to "give his body a rest" from having to work so hard to breathe and thereby use up all the strength he needs to get through the virus. They are treating him with antibiotics for the pneumonia and the hope is that if the pneumonia is controlled, his body will be resilient enough to survive the virus. Not an official medical explanation I know but the best I can understand at the moment. The first 24 hours in the ICU he remained stable and that was seen as a good sign.
For Catherine, being safe but alone in quarantine hardly makes up for the stress, loneliness, fear and struggle to stay positive in the face of this crisis. Your prayers and well wishes go some way to creating a virtual circle of love and healing for us all.
I will try to post updates when I have them and Catherine will be able to read any comments that you send here.
