Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

To start out with let me thank everyone for their love, support, well wishes and prayers. They have worked and Darcy and I both truly appreciate them.

Just to bring everyone up to speed: over the last several months, Darcy's symptoms of "Chemo Brain" were slowly but steadily getting worse. Those symptoms are: poor short term memory, declining comprehension, difficulty staying focused, confusion and loss of balance.

This progression was slow enough that, although annoying, we didn’t think too much about it. Within the last 4 – 6 weeks we noticed these symptoms being even worse than normal. Darcy spoke with her Doctor and on Wednesday 9/30, she had a brain CT. The CT showed that she had a brain tumor about the size of a golf ball in the right temporal lobe and she was immediately sent to the Emergency Room at Western Baptist Hospital here in Paducah. The hospital performed an MRI and admitted her around 4:30 PM.

Darcy went into surgery on Friday morning at 10:00 AM and came out around 4:15 PM. She was put into ICU around 5:30. On Saturday she was put into a “step down” unit or basically the general population.

As of right now (Sunday, 10/4 at 4:30 PM), Darcy is doing very well. She has been disconnected from all monitoring devices, IVs and drains. She is talking and texting and walking around (escorted) the floor. The doctor is very pleased with how the surgery went and with her progress. If all continues she will go home tomorrow.

With Leah Allen’s help we established this web page to keep everyone up to date and to coordinate help and visits. It is very hard to keep everyone updated via texts and phone calls and we do not want to hurt anyone’s feelings. We know we are little late in doing this but everything happened so fast this our first chance to breathe.

Again, our heart felt thanks to everyone for your love and support. It is times like this when you find out who your friends truly are. We love each and every one of you.
