Hello Friends! In February I noticed a hard spot in my abdomen that led to a CT scan that showed a large mass. The radiologist thought it was my right ovary, so an MRI was recommended. The MRI confirmed that the mass was, indeed my ovary. Bayla and I ended up in the office of an gynecology oncologist who said that based on the way it looked on the MRI and his examination that day that the mass was more likely than not cancer. Surgery has been scheduled for April 4. The surgery team will remove my ovaries and Fallopian tubes and the mass will be tested during the surgery. If it is cancer, they will remove my uterus as well. They will also take anything that looks suspicious for cancer. I will have a six week recovery time during which I cannot lift more than 10 pounds. If it is cancer, I will be having chemotherapy at some point.

I am trying to see this as a serious medical issue that needs addressing, nothing more. Sometimes that is easier than others. We have a lot of confidence in our surgeon. He specializes in ovarian cancer and spends much of his time doing research into preventing ovarian cancer recurrences.

Bayla will update this site after the surgery. As soon as I am coherent, I will add my thoughts. I will be in the hospital for about 3 days.

For now, your good thoughts and healing energy will be much appreciated. I will also accept hugs...and beer.

Love, Darcy
