Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.
Dan's first prostate cancer treatment was in 2008.  All seemed well until it came back in 2011 while he was pastor at International Baptist Church Hong Kong.
He received hormone therapy there in 2011 and 2013.  After moving back to San Marcos, he had to resume hormone therapy in 2014, but it was losing it's effectiveness.
Unwelcome news of a metastisis prompted us to choose chemotherapy during the last 3 months of 2015, but it was unsuccessful and the cancer spread to several places in his bones.  Another medication, Zytiga, did not help either and caused a lot of aches and pains.  The  newest and supposedly best anti-antigen drug available was finally approved by insurance and was started on March 24. Strategies for managing pain and nausea continue to be a challenge.
We are reminded daily of God's sustaining love as experienced through the help, and support of so many friends and family.
