Welcome to our CaringBridge website. You can use this to get an update on how Dan is doing. Generally we will not be responding to your posts here but do know Dan reads them all. Thanks! He is finding email harder and harder to use, both due to medications and dexterity; the words he does not misspell, he falls asleep typing. [Joanne says this is true. While Dan has always hated email, this time it is not just an excuse. ]

The beginning of the story:
In July we had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Cotswolds’ and attend a wedding in Cornwall. Going to these spots in England feels like going back in time. There is an enhanced sense of history, and the locals demonstrate a heartfelt honor for the past. Rolling hills filled with sheep, stone churches, Roman baths lit with torches, cream tea under a crystal chandelier, and playing croquet on the lawn – were moments we treasure. During our time there Dan experienced some abdominal pain and was seen by a doctor in Painswick. Upon our return home Dan followed up with his primary care MD. We received unexpected news. Dan has pancreatic cancer with metastasis to the liver. The treatment options are limited and the prognosis is sobering. Dan is getting things in order and has not returned to work. We’ve met with specialists, financial planners, and begun cleaning out the basement and the sheds. Everyone has been informed through one means or another and many of you would like to help. Here’s where this Web site comes in. We’ll list our needs and plans. If any of you would like to help, you can sign up here. As you can imagine, the details are overwhelming. Hopefully, this will help us to get organized. And we thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers.
