Dante had been battling a nasty cough for several weeks. He also had shortness of breath and chest pain. He visited the clinic in Eagan and the Dr, said it was influenza. His symptoms continued to persist with no relief. Wednesday, (Nov. 22) evening, I took him to the ER in Burnsville. At this time Dante had extreme shortness of breath, severe cough and his face was very swollen. The medical staff at the ER immediately ordered an X-ray of the chest and a CT scan. They found a softball size tumor in his chest affecting his lungs and heart. Dante was immediately transported to the University of Minnesota, Children's Hospital ICU.
Since his admission to the U of M hospital. Dante has had many tests and excess fluid has been drained from his lungs. He is feeling much better. We are waiting for test results from the bone marrow biopsy and the spinal tap. He was moved from the ICU to the 5th floor South building. The spinal tap and bone marrow determined he has T-Cell Lymphoma. He has started chemo treatments and as of right now the medical staff have indicated this will be a 2+year regimen.
Todays tests consist of a X-ray of the chest in the morning and CT scan of the chest, abdomen and pelvis in the afternoon.
We are thankful for all of your messages and prayers. This caring bridge site was created for us to share news of Dante's progress and to help communicate with all of our caring family and friends. Please know if we haven't responded to your text or calls that we are focusing on Dante and know that if you leave messages that Dante and his family will read them. It's going to be a long road and we will need you with us on this journey, but we believe that he can beat this terrible disease.
