Today we went to see a urologist who deals with kidney cancer. Dr. Davis. He has been in touch with Dr Garrett, a thoracic surgeon. They both have done this surgery before. The date for surgery is tentatively set for March 1. Dan hated to have to wait that long. This is his chance to have a full and healthy life with us all. The surgery will take right kidney and then leave his heart in ,place, stop it and will take the tumor section out , like a bypass I guess. It's a 6-8 hours of surgery, 7-10 days in hospital. We just have to remain calm and wait till then. Otherwise he is doing good. He can walk on his own, sleep on his side again, the lower part of his body is still swollen some. He has lost 40 lbs. of water in a week.that is because of the vena cava not letting the blood supply back to his heart.
Monday February 27.
Two more waiting days. We are doing ok. Dan is up walking around, wearing regular shoes and clothes. Great expectations for the surgery. Thanks for everyone's prayers and support.
