Welcome to Dan's  CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  These past weeks have been difficult and exhausting for Dan and Lori!  No one could have imagined that a Segway (and a tour bus) would get the best of Dan Seiler!  You probably now know that Dan's injuries started out as what appeared to be deep cuts and bruises and developed into the inability to use his left arm or hand, having his neck immobilized from a hard brace, and no feeling in the fingers of his right hand.  The gashes and bruises have disappeared, but the pain and swelling have continued to get worse.  Dan has been diagnosed with 2 (maybe 3) broken cervical vertebrae, 2 broken thoracic vertebrae and a brachial plexus injury.  Yesterday, it was determined that he has a ruptured cervical vertebra that will require surgery - as soon as it can be scheduled.  The cervical fusion will address the pain in his neck and arms, as well as the numbness and lack of dexterity in the right hand.  It is hoped that physical therapy will be the answer for the brachial plexus injury that is causing the paralysis of his left arm and hand, although that will take months.  More will be known after the initial surgery.  Lori is taking care of Dan (bathing, dressing, cutting his food, managing his medications, etc.) in addition to doing both of their jobs in order to keep Seiler Cleaning Services running.  They are both exhausted!   When they are up to having visitors, they will let you know.  In the meantime, please know that your thoughts, prayers and cards are very much appreciated.  Lori will post updates to the site - or I will with her permission.  She and Dan love and appreciate all of you, but they simply cannot call everyone who wants an update or wants to wish them well.  Although they are not asking for help, there are ways that you can help.  For now,  I have set up a meal delivery calendar, and I hope that some of you will sign up.  I have started with two nights a week (Monday and Thursday), since there are only two of them and they don't mind leftovers.  Billy and I will deliver the meals.  If you are out of town and would like to order from a restaurant or send a gift card, please contact me and I will be happy to pick the meal up and deliver it.  - Lisa Pennington
