On Monday (11/28) pm, I started feeling achy throughout my body. I went home and went to bed. Around 1:30 am I started with severe chest and jaw pain. So, off to the ER thinking I was having cardiac issues. I was admitted into Thibodaux Regional on Tuesday where they ran many test. All the cardiac and pulmonary test came back negative, however it was noted that my platelets were extremely low. On Thursday morning a bone marrow biopsy was done to see if I had MDS (mylelodysplastia syndrome) which is something my Dad had. When we went for the follow up visit with the hematologist on Tuesday, were were extremely shocked to find out that I have leukemia. We were immediately set up to see the oncologist at Ochsner to begin treatment.
