Dan McAlister Family & Friends Site

As many of you may have heard by now, Dan was hospitalized on 8/17/2022. Over the past 4 weeks he has had 3 hospital stays (at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, and now Cone Hospital in Greensboro). He has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Among other challenges, AML can impact ones' blood, causing weakness, breathlessness, and other symptoms. Ever the pleasant patient, Dan has complained very little during this journey. He remains comfortable and jovial - providing entertainment to all of his care team. Once his hemoglobin and platelets have stabilized we hope he can resume his chemotherapy protocol at Baptist, both as an outpatient and inpatient in the coming weeks.

We want to keep you informed as this situation evolves. My family and I have quickly realized, however, that we need to designate a better vehicle for communicating with you than by phone. We hope that this Caring Bridge site will help to keep you updated on Dan's progress.

In the meantime, please forgive us if we do not answer the home phone or return calls, texts, and emails immediately. We have no needs at the present time. Please do keep your prayers, thoughts, and well-wishes coming in the form of cards or letters.

Well-wishes can be sent to our home address:
