PLEASE LOOK AT LATEST JOURNAL ENTRIES FOR UPDATES.

Welcome to Dan's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

My husband Dan was not feeling well on November 20th and was admitted to United Hospital in St. Paul. He had a CT scan done and surgery the following day. They removed part of a tumor on his colon so he now has a stoma with a bag attached.

It was confirmed that it is metastatic stage 4 colon cancer.

When hearing this news, it's like someone is holding your head underwater and you just want to come up and breath and try to catch your breath. You then let the tears flow until there is nothing left and after that you become strong and know that together, we can face anything that comes our way with a positive attitude and such love for this person who says to you he is ready to "take this on".

Chris, Nick and I will be there every step of the way for whatever he needs along of course with the rest of his wonderful family and friends.

He has been in and out of the hospital the last couple of weeks trying to keep his blood sugar and potassium levels under control. They are also giving him pain meds intravenously which helps with his belly pain.

Dan is very weak and has lost quite a bit of weight so he needs to get stronger so he can start chemo in the next week or two. They are going to do a few treatments of chemo and hope to go back in and get the rest of the tumor and put the stoma back in so he won't have the bag after that.

That is the plan for now and we are taking it one day at a time and want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers which are much needed. We are going to do everything we can to kick cancers butt!

I will keep updating as we move along.
