On January 25th, Dan went to the hospital after having a few days of headaches and not feeling well.  He thought he was going in to be treated for the Flu.  Later that night he was rushed by helicopter to Mass General after a CT scan revealed a Brain Tumor.  Dan spent the next few days undergoing testing in the Mass General Neurology ICU.  On Friday, January 27th, Dan had surgery to permanently place a shunt on each side in the back of his head to help reduce the swelling and drain the fluid into his abdomen.  A biopsy of the tumor was also taken for evaluation.  Dan was released under the care of his girlfriend Julie on Saturday the 28th, while the results of the biopsy were pending.  On Thursday, February 2nd Dan was diagnosed with grade 4 Glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of Brain Cancer.
