In January of 2016 Dan started feeling flu-like symptoms, aching in his hips and thighs and waking up at night in a cold sweat. After multiple doctors and blood tests he was finally diagnosed in May with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a bone marrow blood disease that disrupts the production of healthy blood cells. MDS can progress into Acute Myeloid Leukimia (AML). In September he began low dose chemo treatments but it was not enough.


In March of this year we visited MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, AZ and he will now be admitted to begin his journey of a bone marrow transplant. The attempt to find a bone marrow donor will begin with the testing of his 10 siblings or finding a match in through the nationwide donor bank. Information on how you all can be tested will be sent out soon.  This will be a very long and uphill battle but when he is finished with a successful transplant it will be a complete cure.


Dan will be admitted tomorrow (Monday, April 10th) for 30+ days at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ to begin high dose chemo treatments. If you would like to send cards or notes please feel free to do so however they will not allow any plants or flowers in his room.
