Thursday, December 14, 2017 - for the past week, Dana has been having headaches, balance trouble, dizzy, vertigo type symptoms and has not felt well. Last night (December 13), Chris brought Dana to the ER at Gwinnett Medical. They did a CT Scan of her neck and brain. All of her arteries were fine, but the brain scan showed some swelling that would indicate some type of growth pushing against her brain. As the morning progressed, the swelling got significantly worse and the plan was to take her for immediate surgery - Hemicraniectomy. However, while they were prepping the OR, they gave Dana some medicine to reduce the swelling and she woke up (after being unable to stay awake for several hours). The plan for today is to continue to give the medicine. If it does its job, she will not have to go to surgery at this time to reduce the swelling. They are working on getting a CT scan with contrast and an open MRI. Please pray that she will be stable today and the medicine will continue to reduce the swelling. Pray also for that the tests will be able to be done soon and be clear as far as next steps.
