Currently we aren’t asking for any donations. If we end up doing so we will update this page with information and links that clearly state what and where they will be going to medically.
Danah and her whole family were blindsided by her diagnosis. She went into the ER December 19 because she wasn’t able to read her book. Within an hour she was rushed to Northwestern in Chicago to see Dr. Tate. The MRI showed what he thought looked like a high grade glioblastoma. He planned to have her in Surgery January 2 to remove the tumor. However we all REALLY wanted to go on our Mexico vacation with all 16 family members!! Luckily Dr. Tate gave the green light so we all could enjoy a week with Danah before surgery on January 7th.
On January 7th Danah underwent brain surgery where she was awake for part of it. They removed 95% of it which was equivalent to the size of 2 racket balls. The doctor with seeing these all the time and his judgement believes it’s still a grade 4 glioblastoma. The pathology report will give confirmation and additional information, which we should have in a week.
Danah will have physical, occupational and speech therapy. She will also undergo chemo and radiation. This type of cancer is reoccurring so she’s prepared for this big adventure which will take all of her courage, strength and ass kicking!
We really appreciate all the love she has received thus far! As for visitors we will keep everyone updated seeing as she has SO MANY loved ones wanting to see her and we want to monitor her interactions.
