Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Late winter 2022, Dale experienced torso pain, after scraping ice off the car, His doctor diagnosed an inflammation of the cartilage connecting the sternum and rib cage. He prescribed antibiotics. When that had no effect, steroids were the next course. Again, to no effect. He experienced a cough, feeling dizzy, loss of appetite and extreme fatigue. He also began losing weight.
On June 3, he had an x-ray and MRI that diagnosed a mass on his lung.
June7, with Dale in a great deal of pain and losing sensation below his waist, Deanna determined that enough was enough and it was time to go to the emergency room. After more x-rays and numerous scans, they determined the mass on his lung had metastasized to multiple myeloma in his rib cage spine and pelvis. Dale was admitted to the hospital and has been in the care of the hospital, since.
Shortly after his admission they noticed he was aspirating on food and liquids.  He was given an IV for liquids. Days later a feeding tube was introduced.
They are attempting to increase his strength so he can fight. The biopsy has been sent to determine what exact markers and type of cancer this is.
He has been diagnosed with pneumonia and they are doing everything they can to keep fluid out of his lungs.
Dale has had more visitors than he can handle. The outpouring of love and prayers has been overwhelming. The situation has illustrated, very clearly, the number of people Dale has touched and how many people truly love him.
