Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In 2012, Dale suffered from a massive pulmonary embolism which resulted in him being placed in a medically induced coma for 7 days as he was unable to breath on his own. During this time we were uncertain whether he was going to survive but by the grace of God, he pulled though - upon waking up he went through a number of different struggles including being diagnosed with COPD.

Throughout the years Dale’s condition has gone from manageable to end stage with roughly 17% lung compacity remaining in one lung - he was no longer able to walk from his bedroom to his living room (25ish ft) without being incredibly winded, he could no longer shower on his own, nor could he do the everyday things most people take for granted like going to the store by yourself, cleaning, making supper, etc.

Due to his condition and motivation to keep living Dale made the decision to work hand and hand with the Fargo VA in hopes of becoming a transplant recipient - during the past two years he has undergone a series of testing/appointments along with visits to the VA in Madison, Wisconsin as that is where the VA has teamed up with the UW to complete these sort of procedures.

In July of 2019, Dale has officially completed all of his testing and is now on the transplant list.
