Dale has had a heart murmur for decades, but recently it worsened. After several days of tests, Dale was scheduled for heart valve surgery on Wednesday, January 4th. The surgery went well, they were able to repair the valve and everything looked good. But the next morning Dale was having trouble communicating and doctors found he had suffered a stroke. Doctors are monitoring his condition closely and hope the swelling in his brain does not get worse. If it does they will perform surgery to remove a section of the skull to minimize the impact of the swelling. He cannot speak but does nod appropriately to questions we ask. The affected part of the brain would normally control language and speech, but since Dale is lefthanded, it may be that more of his language brain processing occurs in the other side of his brain. This would be good. He is at Fairview Southdale hospitsl. Prayers are appreciated.
