Crystal Sizemore is my (Dalton Sizemore) and Lexi Bridges' mom. She is a proud mother, daughter, and nurse who loves working with her patients and colleagues at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Comprehensive Cancer Center.

On Friday, June 1, 2018, mom was moving into a new apartment and we went out to breakfast before we got started. She got severely sick at breakfast and was vomiting by the time we got back home. She spent the rest of that day and the following day in the bed, only running a fever and vomiting. We were thinking she had a stomach bug and it was no big deal. However, on Sunday (6/3) she became so sick, she couldn't even get out of bed. At one point when she attempted, she passed out and fell to the floor. At that point, I decided it was time to seek help.

When we first got her to the hospital, they immediately began looking for an infection and admitted her to the ICU within 3 hours of arriving to the ER. We found out she had a MRSA infection that became septic. The infection started in her kidneys and before we got her to the hospital, the infection was in her heart, lungs, and liver. She went into kidney and hepatic failure and tests indicated she has cardiac damage.

Since then, they have been able to treat the MRSA and it seems to be under control, however now she has two more infections. The best description of what I can tell everyone came from her infectious disease doctor, "The infection is getting better, but her body is getting worse."

Please keep her and us in your thoughts and prayers as she was the rock, the glue, the caretaker, the mom, the provider, and so much more to our little family and so many others.
