On June 22nd, Cristol was involved in a 4 wheeler accident in the Dominican Republic (her home) while in her driveway.  She was a passenger on a friend's 4 wheeler that appears to have had something go wrong.  The exact cause of the accident is unknown, as neither the driver nor Cristol have been able to recollect the event.   Cristol and Jeff, as well as many other people in the area use 4 wheelers as a form of transportation rather than an automobile.  The terrain is rugged and difficult to navigate.

The accident resulted in a spinal cord injury to Cristol's C4 and C5 vertebrae.  This is very serious as this area determines many functions of our body.  She has undergone one surgery thus far to place screws in her vertebrae.  Cristol has no health insurance.  She remains in ICU.  Doctor's prognosis is that Cristol will never walk again.

Cristol has also been intubated as she has had an infection in her lungs and challenges with breathing.  Another surgery is planned to place more screws and to perform a tracheostomy.
