Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
After several months of weight loss and voice changes, Craig went to the doctor on June 28, 2021. The doctor felt a lump on the left side of his neck and sent him to get a CT scan right away. The CT scan showed a mass that they felt was likely cancer, but he needed to see an ENT specialist for confirmation. The next day Craig had an appointment with the ENT doctor and it was determined that he did have stage 4 tonsil cancer. The cancer originated on his left tonsil, and after a PET scan it was proven to have spread to several lymph nodes in his neck area. We have been told that this is a very treatable/curable kind of cancer, but the treatment will be pretty intense and difficult. The plan is to go through induction chemotherapy before the radiation/chemo combo starts. Craig will have 9 weeks of chemotherapy (3 drugs at a time....once every 3 weeks). The purpose of this is to shrink the tumor a bit before he begins radiation. The induction chemo will be followed by 7 weeks of radiation along with more chemotherapy.  Craig has a long journey ahead of him, but he is very positive and ready to tackle this thing head on. We thank you so much for your support, love, and prayers.
