Dear Family & Friends,

After having a lot of back pain and going to multiple doctors and even a chiropractor our dad was diagnosed with throat and neck cancer in October 2015.  Immediately after learning of the cancer he began 2 rounds of chemo and radiation treatments.  The 2nd round lasted the winter of 2016 and was quite aggressive.  Dad had maintained good health, especially in his retirement years, so the doctors knew he could handle the strength of these treatments.  Unfortunately after he got his PET scan in June 2016 it was shown that the cancer had moved to his pelvic and hip bones.

After a lot of prayer and research Dad and Mom were able to find a clinical study through the Mayo Clinic.  He just completed 3 of 5 Opdivo treatments.  Opdivo is a relatively new drug that works with your immune system to hopefully hold the cancer at bay.  He will have another PET scan after his 5th treatment to see how well the Opdivo has worked.

Our peace in all of this has been that our dad knows God as his father, Jesus as the Son of God and the Holy Spirit lives within him. Our hope is that through this trial others come to know the same. Dad’s favorite verse is 1 John 5:12 "He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."  And we all believe in Romans 8:28- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Please join us in prayer for Dad and Mom in this time of trial. Although days are tough they rely on their love for each other to make it through and we have to commend them for the tremendous strength they’ve shown.

With Much Love,

Craig’s kids
