My journey began when I lost my mom to ovarian cancer.  I was determined to stay on top of my health in every way and be my body's advocate.  I found a lump and had pain in my left breast in 2007 and immediately had a mammogram and ultrasounds that determined there was nothing wrong.  Two years passed and I still had pain so I sought out another breast surgeon to perform an ultrasound.  I received the same results...that I was fine.  I then thought maybe I was feeling the pain in my lungs so I saw a pulmonologist and had a chest x-ray done with the same results..."You're fine, Courtney."  I finally decided to stop letting anxiety creep into my life and I took the experts at their words and followed their advice to have a mammogram when I turned 35.  What I didn't expect to hear after that mammogram is that I have breast cancer.  And so my journey begins...
